Primate Exhibit Renovation, Como Park Zoo, Saint Paul, Minnesota Described as a "face lift" the project involved interviews with key zoo staff, design problem definition, concept design, design development, construction documents and construction administration, for Como Park Zoo and Conservatory, The design was developed for a phased implementation per based on anticipated funding. A key design solution was to introduce sound attenuation to the space with sound absorbing wall panels disguised as a rock face by printing directly on the Tectum TM sound panels. The project was awarded an international award by CISCA (Ceilings & Interior Systems Construction Association) for the 2010 Gold Construction Excellence Award for the US Central Region in the category of Acoustical Solutions. Phase II is currently being implemented to include and interactive "Research Station" to create an Amazon rainforest setting for further education and exploration of the world of primates. |
